New York- tourist day
Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at 3:49PM Wednesday- Day 3
Got on the subway and headed downtown on the Red Line to check out the sites. First stop Chelsea area where I checked out the "High Line"- an entire line converted into green space. Then I went into the "Meat packing District" which I found pretty cool, but I didn't see what all the hype was about unless you wanted to drop some serious coin on clothes. Onward from there I walked into "Greenwich Village" and then into "Soho" which had really awesome architecture. I then went into "Little Italy and China Town"where I kinda got a little turned around. I hopped onto the Brown Line and headed towards 9/11 Memorial Site, checked out ground zero, and then walked towards "Wall Street" to check out the FiDi, which was under a lot of security. The sun started to come out so I headed down towards the water; Pier 17 where all the sail boats are and caught a glimpse at the Brooklyn Bridge. I walked along the shoreline for a bit as well before turning up to Park and walking the bridge until about the middle and took some shots of the city and some landmarks (Empire State).
My adventure continued onto Staten Island where the ferry passed by the Statue of Liberty, which was pretty awesome up close; as for the island itself I got right back on the ferry I came on! It was close to 5:30 pm at this time so I headed back uptown towards my hotel where I am now writing about my adventure. I think tomorrow I'm going to check out the museums and galleries ect.
